Abiding is Your Restful Place

Ephesians 1:11 Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for He chose us in advance, and He makes everything work out according to His plan. ♥

My husband returned late last night. He decided to come on home instead of waiting until morning. He was ready for home-made coffee and a soft bed. I was ready to have him home. I even bought him his favorite ice cream for a welcome home snack. The absence of this person I count on for security, fellowship and love always reminds me how fleeting life is and how glad I am that he’s mine.  Any absence on his part and I’m more than generous with the welcome home. I miss him. I count on him. I love him. And I know him.  I know that I can count on him for anything. Not just his handiness, but his ability to know how to handle situations and fix what’s broken and give me sound advice when I’m anxious or trying to figure things out.  It’s good to have him home.

You Are Never Alone

Psalm 16:8-9 I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me. No wonder my heart is filled with joy, and my mouth shouts His praises! My body rests in safety.

LOVE. This so completely captures the spirit of peace and contemplation that I am attempting to create in my life.

I woke up to an empty house this morning. Not my favorite thing to do.  I nearly always get up earlier than my husband, but he’s generally here in another room. I find great comfort in that. I find that I am fearless as long as he is in the house with me. But when he’s gone somewhere I lock things up more tightly and I listen more intently for outside noises. Not terribly fearful exactly but definitely more cautious. He will be back and for that I am grateful.

Oh beloved, there is One who never leaves you. He doesn’t take a trip or leave town or move out. He doesn’t leave you defenseless nor does He ever expect you to work things out on your own. He knows your weaknesses and your fears and He’s able to give you strength and courage to combat all the things that…

Five Minute Friday – Because

Rebekah Beene

because 2

Oh how many times have I used the word “because” as a mother. It was usually flavored with frustration and toned with last straw attitude. But as I think of this Five Minute Friday Word this is what comes to mind:

Because is one of the most wonderful, luscious, full words in the Bible.  Think about the promises surrounding this simple word:

BECAUSE the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything that I will ever need. (Psalm 23:   )

BECAUSE He delights in me, He brings me into a spacious place. (Psalm 18:19)

BECAUSE  God is my help, I sing in the shadow of His wings.  (Psalm 63:7)

BECAUSE God’s lovingkindness is better than life, my lips will praise Him (Psalm 63:3)

BECAUSE God cares for me, I don’t have to spend another anxious moment (1 Peter 5:7)

BECAUSE I am in Christ Jesus, who has become for me wisdom from God–that is, my righteousness…

Christ Has Given You His Blue Ribbon of Faith

♥ Amen!!
Romans 8:1 THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit. AMP

Rebekah Beene

in christ alone

The county fair is behind us. The crafts, artwork and horticulture items have been given ribbons and the canned goods were judged. The canned goods won ribbons also and Best of Show was awarded to the most worthy canner. A couple of jars unsealed and leaked during the week. A few didn’t have the right amount of food inside the jar. Those were disqualified. When canning, everything has to be just right. Enough salt, water, sugar and vegetables or fruit and the right conditions make for a sealed, well preserved jar. One little thing not quite right and you have a mess on your hands.  It’s important to follow directions to keep the food safe to eat as well as looking good in the jar.

We have been bought with a price. We are on display for the world to see. We’ve been preserved by the Lord Himself. His conditions…

Fruitful Living No Matter the Season

Blessed ♥

Rebekah Beene

Psalm 65:11

She brought her soil sample in and we visited for a while. They had a bumper crop of purple hull peas this year. And her husband had mowed the vines down several weeks before. The amazing thing, she shared, was that the vines had already come back up, blooming and beginning to set some pods again. A second crop of peas was on the way.  You’d think that mowing the vines down to the ground would be the end of it. But no, even in the harsh treatment, there was life. Not just life, but fruitfulness as well.

Oh beloved, life has mown you down has it? You’re feeling that all your growth and significance is over. Your planting watering and giving increase season seems so long ago. Trouble came in and shredded your hopes and dreams and all you thought you had left was bare ground.  But God says…

This is Your Season for the Gospel

Amen!!! ♥

Rebekah Beene

Your mission field may not be in Africa or India but it is in your home, in your school, and at your job. Serve Christ well right where you're at.

One of our dear friends has been placed in a nursing facility. We were flabbergasted to hear of the news. We cannot see the reason but she is in her mid 80’s and suffering with some memory loss. It happens. While we want to remember her as a vital part of society, and especially part of the Christian community at large, we know that God has a plan for her even in the circumstances she finds herself in now.  One thing we know, wherever this dear saint is, she is sharing the Gospel and praying for people always.

As I pondered her situation God brought Paul and Silas to mind. He spoke to my heart, “Paul and Silas were in prison, but that did not keep Me from using them nor did it keep them from their ministry I had called them to.”  I reviewed what all happened while Paul…
